Kashimayari Ski Resort
Kashimayari Ski Resort
Kashimayari is located to the south of central Hakuba, taking about 25 minutes by shuttle bus from Hakuba Base Camp and Happo.
People coming from Hakuba will access from the Nakazuna side, while those coming from Omachi will approach from the south on the Central side. The Nakazuna lifts open earliest at 8am. Other lifts open at 8:30, or 9:00.
Kashimayari has 8 lifts, but somehow the lift numbers go up to #10.
Nakazuna is the lowest part of the resort, just above the frozen lake Nakazuna,The #6 Quad whisks you up to the Central area where most of the lifts are in about 4 minutes. The main Central Plaza is located just below the top of the # 6 quad.
The #6 quad and the #1 quad are the backbone of the resort. While the #5 pair had the steepest terrain (and also a small tree run area). Beginners should use the #3 quad or the #8 quad down at Nakazuna.
Not quite sure what the #7 lift is all about as it seems redundant to me.
For those who like long cat track rides through the woods, then this is a great resort for you, but keep some speed up as there are one or two flat spots.
The Central Plaza Base area is quite a good one. The food court has Ice Cream, Crepes, Hamburgers and Pizza (all looked very appetizing), while there is a full restaurant on the 2nd floor. The base center also has ticket sales, ski school and rentals.
There is a kid’s park near the Central Plaza, with sleds and tubes. It has a magic carpet escalator ride. The #8 pair also has the longest tubing ride in Japan.
Overall it is great place to spend a day or two. Family friendly and not too crowded. Not so much for advanced levels here, but a fun relaxing place to hang out.
