Happo Fire Festival
Held every February, the Happo Fire Festival is one of the highlights of winter.
It mixes a long history and tradition with fun times for all.
The flames are lit under the watch of the gods at nearby Hosono Shrine in central Happo, and transported by flaming torches on skis to the location by the instructors at Happo Ski School and Evergreen Outdoor Center.
Once the main fire is lit, it is time to celebrate, renew old acquaintances, and make new friends. There are a number of stalls serving all sorts of food and beverages.
The climax is one of the best fireworks displays in Hakuba. By this time hopefully your stomach is full, you are not too cold, and you’re happy.
