Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort
Myoko Suginohara is the southernmost of the major resort in Myoko Kogen, about 20 minutes by shuttle bus from Akakura.
It is owned and operated by the Prince Hotel group that also own the Yakibitaiyama slopes at Shiga Kogen.
It offers some of the longest ski runs in the region with the longest being 8.5km long.
The main infrastructure area is at the bottom of the gondola, however those staying at the lower slopes (Suginoaawa) may take the bottom lift up free of charge and then purchase a ticket at the gondola station.
Most of the resort is very much beginner terrain, with only the upper slopes being more difficult.
Looking up the mountain, the right hand side is called the Suginohara Zone, and the left side is the Mitahara Zone. Powder seekers will head to the very top, where there are some runs left ungroomed for people to free ride.
Top to bottom is over 1km in elevation, but much of this is long easy runs.
There are restaurants located all over the resort, with some excellent places to dine.
Views are excellent, and if the weather is fine, you can even see Mt Fuji in the distance.
Another great thing about this resort is that kid’s (under 12) ski for free.
