Yakebitaiyama Ski Resort

Yakebitaiya, a bit of a mouth-full (Ya-ke-bi-tai-ya-ma), is the largest ski resort in the Shiga Kogen Area. Owned and operated by the Prince Hotel group, this may be the best place to stay in Shiga Kogen. If the name is too much, then many shorten it to “Yakebi”.

The three hotels (East, West, and South Wing) offer a wide range of rooms, and some of the best wining and dining options in Shiga Kogen.

The resort has twin gondolas (called #1 and #2), and these take people from the base at 1,550m up to the summit of Mt Yakibitaiyama at just over 2,000m. The views from Mt Yakibitai are impressive, as you can see all the way across the Nagano basin to the Northern alps and Hakuba Valley in the distance.

There are also several high speed lifts that give access to the lower lifts.

The resort is connected to Oku Shiga Kogen and Ichinose, but the links do take some time, and may require a bit of a walk.

From the tops there are many different routes down, with something to suit all abilities.

With the hotels offering true ski in/ski out access to the slopes, this is definitely a location you should look at for your Shiga Kogen Vacation.
