Ikenotaira Onsen Ski Resort is the smallest of the big four Myoko Kogen Ski Resorts.

It is located about 15 minutes by shuttle bus from the Akakura Hub Area, and there are frequent buses during the ski season.

It is also the home of Myoko Kogen Beer, which is brewed at the resorts and sold all over the village.

Like neighboring Suginohara ski Resort, the lower slopes are all beginner terrain (an excellent place to learn), while there is a bit more challenging terrain for intermediates at higher elevations. There are a couple of tree ski sections near the summit for those looking for off-piste thrills.

Some of the trails are wide open, while other are tree lined shutes. And this variety can make for an enjoyable day.

There are 6 lifts on the resort, with 1 quad and 5 pairs.

Ikenotaira can be a great escape on busy days from the twin resorts in Akakura. It can be worth buying a “Myoko All Mountain Pass” and spending half a day at Ikenotaira before heading over to Suginohara for the afternoon, or vice versa.
