Myoko Kogen is located just across the Nagano Prefectural boundary in neighboring Niigata Prefecture. How ever it’s geographical location means it gets links with the Nagano resorts of Hakuba, Nozawa, Shiga, and Madarao, rather than the fellow Niigata resorts of Kakura & Yuzawa etc

The main Myoko Kogen Ski area, centered on Akakura, has 4 large resorts within easy access,. There are a couple more smaller resorts close by which, while a little harder to access, off epic snow conditions. Also about 30 minutes to the north is the amazing Lotte Arai Ski Resort, which offers some of the best off-piste terrain in all of Japan.

Myoko Kogen gets copious amounts of snow. In fact several times during the season it gets too much snow and guests have to wait until the dozers come through and clear out access to the slopes.

Most people prefer to stay in the Akakura area, as this gives foot access to Akakura Kanko and Akakura Onsen Resorts. There is a range of accommodation properties, with something for most peoples tastes and style.

While the facilities and services are still behind a place like Hakuba Valley, the infrastructure is building and it is easier than ever to access and have a wonderful vacation.
