Services in Nozawa Onsen

There are no large supermarkets in Nozawa Onsen Village. If you are staying in a self contained property if pays to make a trip down to Iiyama every couple of days.

The closest supermarket is the A-Coop Miyuki, which is about 15 minutes drive from central Nozawa Onsen. As the A-Coop Chain is operated by JA (Japan Agriculture), there is a good range of fruit and vegetables available year round.

There is also a small bakery in this supermarket.

It is open daily from 9:30 – 20:00, but is occasionally closed on Wednesdays. A taxi from Nozawa Onsen will cost about 1,500yen.

In central Iiyama there are also Tsuruya and Beishia, and Delicia supermarkets, which are large and modern. While they don’t have the same quality of fruit and vegetables as the A-Coop, they are somewhat cheaper, and have a wider selection of items.

There is one store in tucked away in the back streets up the road from Kanamori Sports. It is a Yamazaki Y Shop, which a smaller Japanese chain. Opening hours are 7:30am – 10:00pm. You can get basic groceries, alcohol, sandwiches etc here.

There are also several liquor stores in the village selling a full range of beer, wine and spirits.

The closest 24/7 convenience store is a Lawson, located on the main road about 5km from Nozawa Onsen

There are a couple of small pharmacies in Nozawa Onsen. Both located close to each other in the main downtown area.

Both generally operate Monday to Friday. Both sell over the counter medications and can fill prescriptions.

For the larger scale pharmacy stores, you again need to head to Iiyama, where there are the big chain stores like American Drug.

Nozawa Onsen Post Office is located up behind Chuo Terminal. The post office is open Monday – Friday from 9:00-17:00. It is closed on weekends and holidays.

The ATM is open from 08:45 – 18:00 on week days, and 09:00 – 18:00 on weekends and holidays.

There is a larger post office in Iiyama, but the hours are about the same.

There is a laundromat about 400m south of Chuo Bus Terminal long the main road into and out of town. It is open daily from 6:00am  – 11:00pm.
