Hotel Alpenburg

One of our favorite places in Shiga Kogen, the Hotel Alpenburg is a Swiss inspired chalet style hotel on the slopes at the base of the Giant Ski Area. There are 4 lifts within 50m of the front door offering access to large parts of Shiga Kogen. With the opening of the new pulse gondola, getting to/from the Yama-no-eki hub is now easier than ever.

The hotel boasts excellent facilities including a swimming pool, sauna and hot spring. Great for a day off the slopes, or and after ski soak.

The food is excellent here, and like most places in Shiga Kogen, you’ll be eating in most nights. There is a small bar area that is great for a quiet drink after more strenuous activities during the day.

Rooms are large and well appointed making for a comfortable stay.

And we have saved the best until last… The staff here are amazing. No issue is too small, and they are always on hand with friendly advice and assistance. As one of the smaller hotels in Shiga Kogen personal service is what you get.
